Barbara Louise Andrushuk
(nee Zatina)
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Barbara Louise Andrushuk at the young age of 57 on Saturday, March 23, 2013 at her home with her husband by her side.
She was predeceased by her parents Mike and Marjorie Zatina and father and mother-in-law Peter and Effie Andrushuk. Left to cherish her memory are her precious husband of 39 years Sidney and her two daughters Rene and Adrienne (Chad Blair). She is also survived by her sister Beverly (Randy) Biccum, brother Brian (Judy) Zatina, sister Myrna (Nick) Whitelaw, sisters-in-law Louisa Lorimer, Pearl (Rich) Shomin, and Sharon Andrushuk, brother-in-law Norman (Lorraine) Andrushuk , many nieces and nephews and her “boys” Lil Guy and Junior.
Born March 9, 1956 in Portage la Prairie where she grew up and went to school. At the age of 17, she met her lifelong sweetheart Sidney. They were married March 2, 1974. They had two daughters. In 1993 they moved to their home in High Bluff. This is where Barbara spent all her days after her lung illness forced her to retire. She spent countless hours puttering in her flower gardens that she was very proud of and she loved taking photos of her beautiful flowers. Mom and Dad enjoyed drinking coffee on the deck while bird watching. More recently they loved watching the Jet’s hockey games, where we threatened to implement a “swear jar”. Everyone that loved Mom knew her great sense of humor. There was never a dull or jokeless day in the Andrushuk house which is one of the things we will miss the most. Her smile, her laugh, her wisdom and her love, we will never forget.
In honor of her wishes, she will be cremated and no service will be held.
As expressions of sympathy, if friends so wish, donations may be made in Barbara’s memory to Manitoba Lung Association, 629 McDermot Ave, Winnipeg, MB, R3A 1P6 or to a charity of one’s choice. A special thank you to Owen McKenzie for his extraordinary kindness and compassion.
A tree will be planted in memory and cared for by McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel www.mckenziesportagefuneralchapel.com
