Peacefully, with her husband and son at her side Audrey Jean Hourie passed away Monday, January 8, 2018 at the Portage District General Hospital at the age of 81 years.

Left to cherish her memory are her beloved husband Jim Hourie of High Bluff; her children Colin (Angie) Hourie of High Bluff, Karen (Ted) Ellefson of Calgary; grandchildren Anne, Tom & Aaron Hourie and Emily, Lindsay, Jillian & Lisa Ellefson; great-grandson Eddie Rojas-Hourie, siblings Ken (Joan) Gemmell of Calgary, Lloyd (Marie) Gemmell of Portage la Prairie and Peggy (Ted) Moon of Portage La Prairie and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Audrey was a lady with many talents and interests, which she enjoyed sharing with her friends and family.  Many of us knew her as a teacher, gardener, quilter, bowler, old time dancer, curler, choir member, flower arranger, volunteer, cook, seamstress, artist, UCW member, birthday group gal, lover of music, bird watcher and a devoted user of the library.  Most importantly to her, Audrey was a loving wife and devoted mother.  She considered her children, grandchildren and great grandchild her greatest legacy.  Audrey was part of a large and loving circle of friends and family who will miss her deeply and remember her with fondness.  Please spend time smiling at memories shared, and a life well spent, when you hear her name.

As per Audrey’s wish there will be no formal funeral service, a private family gathering will take place at a later date.

As expressions of sympathy, if friends so wish, donations may be made in Audrey’s memory to the McKenzie United Church Memorial Fund, 85 - 11th Street NW,  Portage la Prairie, MB,  R1N 2S2 or to a charity of one’s choice.
