Audrey Olive Faurschou

On Sunday, January 3, 2010, Audrey Olive Faurschou passed away in the Grace Hospital, Winnipeg at the age of 79 years.
She was predeceased by her parents Jens and Janet, brother Ralph, brother-in-law Grenville Smith and niece Sherry Klassen, Audrey will be lovingly remembered by her sisters Joyce (Roy) Lyall and Helen Smith; brother Gerald (Pat); sister-in-law Ella Faurschou; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews and a few great great nieces and great great nephews.
Audrey was born and raised in the Lakeview District near Langruth. She attended the Hollywood School and Portage Collegiate Institute. Audrey then went to Winnipeg to take a Stenographer's Course at Success Commercial College. After graduating she was employed as a stenographer working for the Federal Government, Department of Transport, Meteorological Division at Stevenson Field Airport (weather office). She worked there for nearly 5 years and then took a job downtown in Winnipeg as a switchboard, receptionist-typist and cashier. Audrey worked this job for 7 years. She later took another switchboard receptionist and filing clerk job downtown for 8 years and then returned working for the Federal Government as a secretary-receptionist-typist II with the Department of Labour. Audrey enjoyed her working years and kept in touch with her many friends. She also served in the Reserve Airforce from December of 1955 till December of 1958 as a clerk-typist in the 402 Squadron and then later in the 2402 Squadron (Aircraft and Warning Unit) learning all about radar.
Audrey lived her adult life in Winnipeg and was a member of the St. Phillips Anglican Church, St. Boniface, and was involved in the Anglican Church Women's group and served on the Altar Guild. She belonged to groups at the YWCA where she met a lot of friends. Audrey had a happy disposition and enjoyed traveling, music, dancing and favorite television shows. She especially looked forward to holidaying each year at the cottage at Delta where she could swim in the lake and visit with many friends and relatives.
Visitation will take place at St. Mary's Anglican Church on Friday, January 8, 2010 from 7:00 to 8:00 pm. Funeral Service will be held at St. Mary's Anglican Church on Saturday, January 9, 2010 at 2:00 pm led by The Venerable Norman Collier. Interment is to follow at Hillside Cemetery.
