Arthur Douglas Twiss

With heavy hearts we regret to announce the passing of Arthur Douglas Twiss on Monday, April 16th, 2012, at the age of 41 years.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving parents, Arthur and Lynn Twiss; daughters Bryer Twiss (Charles Harris), Channelle Twiss, Mellissa Sokolosky (Dale Davis), Carly Sokolosky (Wally Anderson); special friend and the mother of his children, Lori Sokolosky: his special boys Haiden and Elden Anderson, his grandchildren; his brothers Lorne (Glenda) Twiss, Jason (Jennifer) Twiss; and many nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts and cousins.

Predeceased by his grandparents Frank and Brenda Twiss of Elm Creek and grandfather Kenneth Hannah of Poplar Point.

Arthur was born at Portage General Hospital on August 19, 1970. He grew up in Elm Creek in the early part of his life, then moved to Portage at age 7 and attended school in Portage la Prairie. Art worked in numerous jobs over the years, finally settling into the Aviation Industry. He started out as a Ground Handler and worked his way through a 4-year apprenticeship to become an AME. He graduated class Valedictorian. What his family remembers the most about Arthur was his smile, his silly sense of humor, the tricks he played in his nieces and nephews, and his determination to always keep his girls in order. Art always had a special place in his heart for all his family. Hence, his 5 bay garage, which was his sanctuary, where he played his favorite Jackson guitar and worked on his vehicles. He was a long-standing member of the Legion, Army Cadets, and sat on many committees within the Aviation industry.
