Unexpectedly, on September 17, 2014, Arlene McCallum passed away with her family by her side at the age of 71 years.
She leaves behind to mourn her daughters Cheryl (Glen Major), Sharon (Rene Dufault) and Sheila (Marc Saltel); grandchildren Chelsea and Quinn Major, Emilie, Patrick and Eric Dufault and Micheala Saltel; sisters Betty Bedford and Shirley Pritchard; many nieces and nephews and her special friends Fran, Lois, Enid, Sharon and Gail along with many others whose lives she touched. She was predeceased by her mother Isabella Boak (nee Murray).
Arlene was born on August 16, 1943 in Portage la Prairie. Above all else she took great pride in and cherished her family. Arlene was a humble lady who enjoyed many hobbies; horticulture, canning, crafts, computer and puzzles. She enjoyed her employment at the Portage Mutual for many years until her retirement, after which time, she had great enjoyment spending time with friends and family sharing in fun, love and laughter.
The family would like to express sincere thanks to the medical teams at Portage District General Hospital and St. Boniface Hospital who showed great care and compassion during her brief stay.
Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, September 24, 2014, at 1:30 pm at McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel, 56 Royal Rd S. Portage la Prairie.
As expressions of sympathy, if friends so wish, donations may be made in Arlene’s memory to a charity of choice.
