Arlene Armstrong

February 23, 1963 — April 11, 2020

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our dear wife, mother, daughter, sister and aunt, Arlene Angela Armstrong.  After a short battle with cancer, Arlene passed away on Saturday,  April 11, 2020 at her father’s residence in Portage la Prairie.

Arlene leaves to mourn her husband Dave, daughter Cora Grant (Simon) of Thompson, Manitoba, son Sheldon Grant of Brandon, grandchildren Gracie and Henry, brothers Dean Dubois (Debbie), Gordon Dubois (Joy), George Dubois and sister Marion Nelson (Craig), along with numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, extended family and friends. She is predeceased by her mother Janet (2019), grandmother Emily (2006), uncles, aunts and some cousins.

She was born in Portage la Prairie February 23, 1963 and raised in Bluff Creek, MB by her mother and later in Thompson after her mother met Earl, who she called her father right from the start.

Arlene completed her grade 11 when her precious little girl came along and later in 1985, Arlene had her baby boy.  Both her children were her world along with her two grandchildren that she bragged about every time you were talking to her.

She met the love of her life and best friend Dave in 1996 and made their residence in Polonia, Manitoba and later married in 2006.  Together they had a painting and drywall business, that they had to semi retire from after Dave took ill with a stroke and wouldn’t let them continue in 2014.

Arlene had many careers in her lifetime, she was a secretary, waitress, and caregiver.  She put her all in everything she did.  Arlene enjoyed many activities such as crosswords, doing puzzles, crafts, watched and coached her children as they played their sports when they were younger, as well as visiting with her friends in the community.

She will be lovingly remembered for her contagious smile, her very big heart and personality that made everyone laugh who was around her.

A public graveside service will take place at Bluff Creek Cemetery on Friday. August 7, 2020 at 1:00 pm.

If friends so desire donations in memory of Arlene can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 185 Sherbrooke St. Winnipeg, Manitoba  R3C 2B7 or of one’s choice.
