Annie Crewson (nee Unrau)
Peacefully, with her family at her side, Annie (Unrau) Crewson passed into the arms of her Saviour on Sunday, January 22, 2012 at Portage General Hospital at the age of 91 years.
Annie was born August 5, 1920 at Lowe Farm, MB. She was the eldest child of 8 children of William and Mary Unrau. On November 11, 1939 she married Joseph Edward Crewson of Edwin. They enjoyed 13 happy years together before Joe was accidentally electrocuted in 1952. They had four children.
Annie was predeceased by her husband Joseph Edward Crewson in 1952, her parents William and Mary Unrau in 1965 &1987, her brother Peter in 1992, and her grandson Glenn Ronald in 2005.
Left to cherish her memory are her children Mary Anne (Neil) Ronald of Poplar Point, MB, Linda (Keith) Fraser of Brandon, MB, Bill (Betty) of Balcarres, SK, and Jim (Colleen) of Neepawa, MB. She is also survived by 23 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, 5 great great grandchildren, her brothers and sisters, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Ann was known as an avid vegetable gardener. Along with her veggies, she grew 27 varieties of geraniums. In the cold winter she made numerous quilts which can be found all over the country. Many were donated to children in need at CSSM Camps.
Ann was known for speaking her mind. She enjoyed many fun times playing with her grandchildren, racing, water fights, going to the beach, and who would ever forget all the huge bonfires with grandma's home baked beans, roasted hot dogs, marshmallows, and chocolate cup cakes.
Ann accepted Jesus as her Lord and Saviour on November 16, 1947. She loved, trusted and served Him faithfully. He was her constant strength. She was known as a faithful prayer warrior and an example for us all. All her children and grandchildren have been the recipient of her prayers and support.
A service of celebration, conducted by her grandchildren was held on January 26, 2012 at 1:30 p.m. at McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel, followed by a private interment at Burnside Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate that any donations be made to Manitoba CSSM Ministries, 200-189 Henderson Hwy, Winnipeg, MB, R2L 1L7.
