Anne Tarr (Morhart) peacefully passed away on December 11, 2023, at the Portage General Hospital in Portage la Prairie, MB.
Anne was born in Spring Valley, Saskatchewan on June 5, 1940. She was the second youngest of nine children born to Frank and Anne Morhart. Anne received her schooling in Spring Valley, Saskatchewan, then left to pursue her nursing degree in Portage where she graduated in 1962. Anne enjoyed a long career as a Registered Psychiatric Nurse at the Manitoba Developmental Center until she retired after 33 years of dedicated service.
On September 1, 1962, she married Robbie Tarr and in 1963 began their family raising 4 children. Anne had many hobbies including knitting, crocheting, embroidery, crossword puzzles, as well as her planted flowers. Anne enjoyed camping and had fond memories of Waskasiu in Prince Albert National Park and Miller’s campground, where she and dad had a seasonal lot for well over 45 years. Christmas and Easter holidays were of particular importance to Anne, as she loved being with family.
Anne leaves to mourn her children Michael (Donna) Tarr, Beverley (Faron) Aymont and Dawn (Colin) Schaan all of Portage, as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom were very dear to her. Anne is also survived by two brothers Anton (Mary) Morhart of Humboldt, Saskatchewan, and John (Muriel) Morhart of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. Anne was predeceased by her husband Robert Tarr in 2000, son David Tarr in 2009 and Great Grandson Aaron Tarr in 2021, parents Frank Morhart and Anne Oberderfer. Anne was also predeceased by three brothers, Siegmund Morhart, identical twins Zach Morhart and Frank Morhart; three sisters Rosie Messner, Marie Williams and Regina Tress.
A service of Celebration of Anne’s life will be held on Saturday December 16th, 2023 at 2:00 pm at Good Shepherd Parish, led by Father Michael Savarimuthu. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. The service was recorded and can be viewed below.
