Friesen, Anne Eva

We grieve the loss of our Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother, Anne Friesen on Saturday, July 2, 2016 at the Carman Hospital at the age of 86 years.

A celebration of Anne's life will be held on Friday July 8, 2016 at 2:30 pm at the Community Fellowship Church in Newton Manitoba. Interment will take place at the Oakville Cemetery.

Anne was born in Brandon Manitoba on August 20, 1929. The oldest of 6 children. She grew up on a farm  9 miles south of Newton in the Wingham area, and went to the Wingham School. Anne was proud of the fact that her father was a beekeeper and she and her dad worked  many hours together to support the family farm.  Anne enjoyed a year of practise teaching in a 1 room school with grades 1 to 9. She was asked to return but accepted a job with Newton Enterprises which she also enjoyed.

Anne’s faith was a vital part of her life. She was baptized in August of 1945 and became a member of the Newton MB Church and attended there the rest of her life.Anne met Fred through the Newton Church and they were married on September 29, 1951. Anne joined  the Friesen Family homestead near Elie, MB where they worked hard and enjoyed raising their family. They were blessed with 5 children; Ron, Ken, Dianne, Rick and Barry. In 1967, they moved their family to the Oakville area where they continued to enjoy farming and growing their family. The family grew in size as their children married and blessed them with  8 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Anne loved being a Grandma and a Great Grandma and enjoyed all the special times spent together with each one of them.

Besides helping on the farm, Anne also drove school bus in the Elie and Oakville districts for many years.  Anne enjoyed gardening, canning, baking, sewing and reading.  She was involved in the Oakville Community 4H club where she taught sewing.  Anne found great joy in meeting with community ladies around the kitchen table reading and sharing from God’s word through Friendship Bible Coffees. She also enjoyed serving with the ladies Church group, teaching Sunday school and most recently praying for the children in Sunday school and the Youth Groups.

Anne and Fred enjoyed 64 years together until Fred’s passing on September 8th, 2015.  Anne missed her soul mate greatly. During the 10 months without him, her desire to join him in the presence of the Lord grew stronger. her prayer was answered on Saturday July 2 2016 at the Carman Hospital when God called her home at the age of 86 years. Anne was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She will be remembered for her care, concern and constant prayers for her family, church family and friends.
