Peacefully on October 25, 2021, Anita Dubois passed away at the age of 90 at Golden Links Lodge.
Anita was predeceased by her parents, her husband Edmond (Ted) and her son Andrew and daughter-in-law Inga. She is survived by her daughter-in-law Janine Brisson, grandsons Glen (Mai) and Alves (Jennifer) and great grandchildren Levon, Alexandra and Madeline. She is also survived by Janine’s sons Nathan (Casey) and Dylan (Amanda) and their families, her foster sons Chris Kee, John (Sonia) Feakes and Roland (Doreen) Boille and their children and grandchildren; her siblings Patricia (George) and Roger (Pat), and numerous nieces and nephews.
Anita was born in St Claude, MB on December 20, 1930 to Henri Chevrier and Rosalie Monchalin. She married Ted in 1946 and they lived together on the farm until Ted’s passing in 1997. Mom moved to Portage and then Winnipeg to be closer to family after Andrew’s passing in 2016.
She lived a very active and social life, and she loved gardening, cards, music, square dancing, quilting, harness racing, fishing and camping. She had many stories of the travels she and Ted shared in their motorhome, and was an enthusiastic member of Sam’s Club. They spent several enjoyable winters in Arizona after retirement.
Her grandchildren and great grandchildren are very grateful to have had her close by in Winnipeg, and for the opportunity to spend more time with Grandma, but her heart was always on the farm in St. Claude and that was always her home.
Mom loved her family immensely and was happiest when she was surrounded by them! We will all miss her terribly.
The family would like to thank the staff at Catherine Place, Golden Links Lodge and the homecare staff who helped care for Anita and allowed her to remain independent as long as possible. Special thanks to Mona and Shirley for many hours of companionship and cribbage.
A private burial will take place at the St. Claude Cemetery at a later date.
A tree will be planted in memory and cared for by McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel. www.mckenziesportagefuneralchapel.com
