She is lovingly remembered by children Randy and Bonnie Rintoul of Bagot, Jacki Rintoul of Portage, Tammy and Phillip Davey of MacGregor, Robert Rintoul and Jennifer Baker, Amelia and Kayleigh of Portage, and Bea Mozdzen of Portage, siblings Monty (Nancy) Brydges, Rick(Ruth) Brydges, (Faith) Brydges, (Murray) Tufford. Inlaws Lorne (Colleen) Rintoul, Phyllis (Ernest) Askin, Maxine (Helmut) Schroeder, Wayne (Betty) Rintoul, Dan (Louise) Rintoul, (Edna) Rintoul, Eldon (Georgina) Rintoul, Vivian (Harley) Henry, Ken (Pat) Rintoul and many nieces and nephews. Of note were her special friends Faith, Pat, Ken, June and Gerry.
Allison grew up in Portage la Prairie and worked as a telephone operator. She met and then married Tom in 1951. Together they had 4 children that she loved dearly. She spent much of her life being the administrator for the farm, providing meals, taking care of kids, keeping the books, running food to the field and knowing off by heart any phone numbers that Tom might need.
She drove school bus for 31 years, and loved the kids. She also learned American Sign Language and worked in the school as an interpreter for hearing impaired children. An active member of Rossendale UCW in her earlier years, she was keen to dress up for Halloween and could often be found acting in skits and plays. Family snowmobiling, golfing, curling, cross country skiing, fishing, camping and bon fires were some of her pleasures. In the last few years she enjoyed her farm, beautiful yard, her dog, her family, and particularly her “angels”. She also found a new talent of painting birdhouses and other things like “the shack”.
Funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 26, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Trinity United Church, Portage la Prairie with Rev. Julie Baker.
As expressions of sympathy, if friends so wish, donations may be made in Allison’s memory to the Manitoba School for the Deaf 242 Stradford St. Winnipeg, Manitoba R2Y 2C9.
