On Monday, Oct. 4th, 2010, Alison McLaughlin-Wright of Portage la Prairie peacefully passed away after a brief battle with cancer, surrounded by her loving family.

She is deeply loved and will always be cherished by her husband Bernie Wright and her sons Vincent McLaughlin, Joshua Wright and Alistair Wright. Alison will be greatly missed by her mother Susan McLaughlin, her step-daughters Cristie Gourley (Darren) and Dee Romijn (Gary), step-son Riley Wright (Bree) and their children whom she considered grandchildren, her sisters Sharon Kunzelman (Robert), Carol McLaughlin (Dan Diamond), Kathryn McLaughlin (Larry Harder), Janice McLaughlin (John Caister) and her brothers Robert McLaughlin and Hugh McLaughlin (Valdine) as well as her many nieces and nephews. Alison was predeceased by her father Wilfred McLaughlin.

Alison spent her early years in Plumas, MB and the family moved to Portage La Prairie when she was 7. She and her husband Bernie owned and operated a family restaurant, The Wright Spot, for 14 years where they made many friends of their staff and customers. She loved family gatherings, time at the family cottage, discussing sports, politics, her beloved Portage Terriers, her dog Duchess, matchmaking, finding homes for animals, as well as traveling to Toronto and the Okanagan to visit her sisters.

Visitation will be held on Friday, October 8, 2010 at McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel at 7:00 to 8:00 pm. Cremation has taken place and her friends are invited to join in a celebration of Alison's life on Saturday, Octocber 9, 2010 at 11:00am at the Trinity United Church led by Rev. Julie Baker.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Alison's memory may be made to P.A.W.S. Box 1426, Portage la Prairie, MB R1N 3N9 or The Wright Brothers Education Fund c/o Portage Credit Union, 19 Royal Road N., Portage la Prairie, MB R1N 1T9.

Three things will last forever: Faith, Hope and Love, but the greatest of these is Love.
