Melba-Joan Bailey
Peacefully on Saturday, September 7, 2013, Melba-Joan Bailey entered the spirit world in Winnipeg, Manitoba at the age of 50 years.
Left to cherish her memory are her children: Geraldine Mae Huntinghawk of Winnipeg, Amanda-Lynn Bailey of Winnipeg and Delbert Morley Huntinghawk Jr. of Halifax; grandchildren Kylie Lynn, Paris, Christopher Jr., Isabelle, Mae-Lin, Olivia and Claudia; sisters Linda (Dale) Roach of Long Plain, Doris Jean (Garry B. Meeches) Longclaws of Long Plain and Cindy Gale of Cass Lake, MN; Melissa, Pennie and many more nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Mae and Phillip Longclaws; sister Joyce Longclaws and brother Phillip Gale.
Melba-Joan was born at Long Plain First Nation and was raised in Winkler, Manitoba. She worked as a health care aide and various other jobs in Portage la Prairie. Melba-Joan had a great sense of humor and was known as a joker. She was also very stubborn and very strict. She loved music and dancing and was a fan of Rod Stewart. She also enjoyed playing Bingo and taking in a Portage Terrier hockey game. Melba-Joan was a strong supporter of socials.
The family would like to thank the Vista Park Lodge Care Home for the care they provided for our mother the last few years.
Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, September 11, 2013 at 1:00 pm at McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel led by Dennis Meeches. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery. Following the interment a family dinner will take place at the Long Plain Spirit Lodge.
