Lynne Alice Thacker
With great sadness we announce the sudden but peaceful passing of Lynne Alice Thacker (nee Geotz) after a lengthy battle with MS. Lynne passed away on August 1, 2012 at the age of 58 years with her husband by her side.
Lynne was predeceased by her parents Walter and Corrine Geotz of Nesbitt, MB. Left to honor and cherish her memory are her loving and devoted husband of 37 years Randy Thacker; children Terry Thacker, Curtis (Cindy) Thacker and stepson Jason (Jen) Carter all of Portage la Prairie, MB.; grandchildren Apryl Dawn Thacker, Michael Terrance Kuryk (Thacker), Brady Anderson, Quinn Violet and Kyle Carter; siblings, Sharon (Jim) Lockhart, Jerry (Val) Geotz and Eileen (Larry) Dnistranski, along with numerous nieces, nephews and their families.
Lynne was born April 21, 1954 at Killarney, MB and spent her early years growing up in the Nesbitt and Wawanesa area. She went to school in both these locations and completed her post-secondary education at ACC in Brandon, MB. This is where she met the man that would be the love of her life and her soul mate, Randy. Lynne married Randy Thacker on February 22, 1975 and together they raised two children. They lived in various locations including Winnipeg, Nesbitt, Glenboro and Portage la Prairie. Lynne worked for Manitoba Hydro and after 10 years was forced to retire due to her progressive battle with MS.
Lynne was known for her great sense of humor and loved a good joke especially if it was on someone else. She was a loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother. Lynne was a patient, kind and accepting person, even when MS would take one more thing from her she never complained.
Lynne's love and focus was always on her family. Highlights for her were the birth of her grandchildren and the marriage of her son Curtis and his bride Cindy. Lynne was very proud of her granddaughter Apryl Thacker on her accomplishments as a young musical star in her own right. Due to her failing health Lynne was not able to attend all performances physically but was always with Apryl in her heart. Camping, music, her pets, bird watching and her flower garden gave her much joy.
For everything there is a season and on August 1, 2012 Lynne's season came to an end. You will always be in our thoughts, we love you and will miss you forever, but we would not wish you back to suffer one more day. We saw the pain and suffering in your eyes and we knew that it would not be fair to ask you to stay. You are free to soar with the eagles, dance with the wolves and pick flowers in your beautiful garden; free at last!
