Winnifred Emily Hooper

Winnie passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 12, 2017. She was a resident of Lions Manor, Winnipeg.
Born April 4, 1925 to Rev. Canon E. Jacques and his wife Emily at Emo, Ontario. Predeceased by her husband William Raymond (Ray) Hooper in 2005, she is lovingly remembered by her two daughters and their families. Daughter Lynne Grzybowski (Zenon), grandchildren Shannon Grzybowski and Lesley Kozun (Joseph), great grandchildren Nicole and Megan Kozun; daughter Kathy Chown (Greg), grandchildren Adam Chown (Daria) and Laura Martens (Rob); brother Rev. Douglas Jacques (Nancy) of Toronto; sister-in-law Irene Wenham of Neepawa and many nieces and nephews.
Winnie graduated from Winnipeg Provincial Normal School in 1943. A dedicated teacher, Winnie enjoyed all her students including classes in Swan River, Dauphin and Portage la Prairie. After retirement, her love of children drew her to assisting at Trinity Nursery School for a number of years.
She enjoyed curling and bowling and the time she and Ray shared travelling during their retirement.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 24, 2017 at 2:00 pm at St. Mary’s la Prairie Anglican Church led by Rev. John Dolloff.
